The Department of Nephrology was established as an independent department in 1996. The department has a number of outpatient and inpatient services and contributes to the Educational, Academic and Research activities of the Hospital
The Department provides services for evaluation and management of clinical nephrology problems, dialysis for patients with acute renal failure, acute drug intoxication/overdose and acutely decompensated chronic renal failure patients, and maintenance hemodialysis. Facilities for renal biopsy, hemoperfusion, plasmafiltration / plasmapheresis, continuous renal replacement therapy, also exist. Renal problems due to diabetes mellitus, hypertension, stone disease, infections, hereditary illnesses and poisons are diagnosed and managed.
The Department has a fledgling chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis programme and also provides acute peritoneal dialysis for patients with ARF, CRF.
The Department has an accredited transplant programme and performs live related donor renal transplants since 2003.
Our centre is a DNB teaching centre for nephrology and wegive 3 yr fellowship ( DNB) course in nephrology to internal medicine post graduates
Provides regional nephrology services for people from various parts of north India The staff consist of four consultant nephrologists, four registrars, one house officer, dialysis technicians, dialysis nurses, secretaries, and a computer systems manager. We also have a renal transplant recipient co-ordinator, predialysis educator, research/clinic nurse, and administrative officer.
